Friendship is something to be valued and if one should ever feel betrayed in any relationship as tender as friendship their rationality blows out the window.

Generation after generation have skipped the curse bestowed upon all females that have a particular type of blood coursing through their veins...running from the twisted curse that had been coerced by anger through a friendship has now left eleven year old Christain and her mother at odd ends

Getting a wake up call in the middle of the night and having to pack everything and run without a given reason at the age of five sucks.
I'm eleven now, after finding out I'm possessed by an unkillable witch we're on the move again but to add a twister to this entire fiasco, my father is standing at our front door with my mother's boyfriend limp at his feet.

Every year, my town chooses a sacrifice for the demon that "watches over" our home. In exchange for a person from the village between the ages of 17 to 25, the demon protects our village. And because of that pact, our village is protected for the next year, under the demon's watchful eyes. No one knows what happens to those who the demon chooses, but there's a lot of theories about it. One is that the demon eats or absorbs those who are chosen - another, that it kills them. But this year, I'm the one who's chosen. I get to meet the demon I've feared since I was a child, and now that I'm 24, and am considered an adult, I could have left the village behind. But I didn't. Something inside me told me to stay. Now, I'm going to die. I just know it. I can't leave now, or run away, because the town would be unprotected for a whole year, and that's where my family lives. I don't know what to do, but I'm sure I'll think of something. Besides, how bad can this demon be if they're guarding our town?

As someone who had dedicated their studies to becoming a scribe in the towers, I assumed she was referring to the importance of accurate records for future historians..... Timeless records, right? My mother's voice was filled with emotion as tears of joy stained her cheeks, but an ache settled in my gut, making it hard to accept. Not to mention the scent my mother carried from this man, most likely from hugging him, smelled so exquisite which had me worried. As soon as he walked through that door, I knew two things: he was an imposter, lying about being my brother, and he was my fated mate. The worst part was not only did he look just like my brother, he shared his name, and even had the same birthmark. His background lined up too perfectly, and none of it made sense. My wolf was adamant-we were not related. I felt torn. Do I tell my mother the truth, breaking her heart by revealing that he's not her missing son, and claim my mate, putting my own happiness first? Or do I lie, knowing she hasn't been this happy since he disappeared, and reject the bond that was pulling me toward him? The weight of my decision pressed heavily on me, leaving me lost between love and loyalty, unsure of where to turn.
