There exist three shifter dynamics, alpha, beta and omega. Each year hundreds of shifters send in samples of their scent hoping to catch the attention of highborns, the alphas and omegas of pure blood and power, who take part in a mating game every year seeking a potential mate based on their scent compatibility. This year Lavernius Tucker has been selected to take part.

The idea of lycanthropes is impossible. Can the lore actually be true? College student Joey Sumner never could have imagined she would find the answer in a simple hike through the forest. But as she soon discovers, the world is not always what it seems. When she comes face to face with a rogue werewolf and survives its brutal bite, Joey is thrown into a savage existence where power struggles are fought to the death and males reign supreme. As she struggles to come to terms with her new reality, she becomes a pawn in a conflict between the rogue who bit her and the alpha of the local pack, who wants to execute him for a murder he may or may not have committed. Newly shifted and one of the few females around, it's a hard battle for everything, especially when it's against yourself. Strong physical violence and gore, Themes of body horror and loss of autonomy, Depictions of a misogynistic culture, Dubious Consent, Non-con, Themes of Sexual Violence and No HEA (happily ever after).
