Steven Easton is a single, 27-year-old man from Alabama. He's raising his nine-year-old niece, Ava. They moved to suburban Iowa in June because Steven's aunt, Jen, is the principal at a middle school up in Iowa. Before in Alabama, Steven taught in a rough small town, where he was born and raised. Over the summer, Steven reunited with his father for the first time since he was a baby, which has resulted in some healing, but a lot of heartache because there are still a lot of unresolved issues. Steven's sister or Ava's Mom, Stacey, robbed a bank and killed someone about five years ago, and Steven hasn't had contact with her since. He knows that he needs to closure with her, which means he needs to contact her. For five months now, Steven has been blogging daily about his daily life, and this month is the last month he will be writing. If you've never read his entries before, it's okay because it's pretty easy to catch on.

After being all alone, Diana, Aria's mom, decides to marry the "guy" she's seeing, which happens to be Raymond Moore, Blake and Levi's dad. They all move in together.
