"Are you ready to be queen?" Her mother asked her. Mary gulped at the thought of her sitting on the throne, but she knew that she had to do it. She was the crown princess, after all. "Yes" she simply whispered. Her mother smiled at her, showing the little dimples on the side of her cheeks. "Good. Then start goddamn acting like it" she slapped Mary, causing her to whimp at the touch of her mother's hand against her skin. Mary carefully gathered her hands on her middle. "When will I be queen, Mother?" She asked. Her mother caressed the spot she had slapped. "Soon, my dear, soon" she chuckled at her daughter's question. Mary took a deep breath, thinking about what was to come for her.
