John Moore is the new kid at Redwood boarding school. That would be fine and dandy and he'd make some friends or whatever only for one problem.
He didn't speak.
He was mute, but it wasn't always like that. His father was sending him and all his siblings to different schools, so they wouldn't know what happened. But John already knew. And he couldn't bring himself to utter a single word because of it.
High school; the bane of all teenager's suffering. Especially when it was a boarding school and there was no escape. That's where he was forced to go to a counsellor. That was where he had to deal with Thomas Moran and his lackeys.
That was where he met Adam.
Adam Poulsen, a Danish kid who was tall and would not shut up. Their introduction was short lived and brief, John taking an instant disliking to him. The feeling was mutual too.
Of course, he knew Adam couldn't be all bad, right? He was proven correct with that after a little encounter with Thomas, his lackeys, and pretty much everyone who thought it funny to laugh at the freak who couldn't speak. Adam shooed away the crowds and let him carry on.
John wouldn't admit it, but after deciding Adam was actually good-hearted, his affections started growing. However, Adam was left blind to John pining after him 'because of school', you know?
But then John is moving away again.
And Adam doesn't want him to go.
But he won't admit why.

Seventeen years old Sam Adams doesn't do well with people. He prefers staying home on the weekends and staying away from parties. He has only one friend- and that's his older sister, who is now off to college, leaving Sam to spend his days at home with his mom and his painting. Until one day, his mother decides to transfer him to an all-boy boarding school, thinking that will force her son to socialize. But Sam didn't tell her that at his old school, he was being bullied. The broken arm she thought had occurred from falling was actually caused by bullies. Now in his new school, Sam learns that everyone has a club they belong to. Sam knows that no one will want to befriend the shy, introvert boy who spends his days drawing. But you can't stay alone in this school, which Sam comes to realise when the school's bullies pick him as their new target, and that makes Sam think that this is how he'll spend the rest of his two years in school. Until suddenly, the most secluded club decides to defend Sam and take him under their wings. No one is as surprised as Sam that the group of four scary boys wants to include the quiet boy in their club. But the most shocking thing is that the cold, feared boy named Ren starts showing Sam his soft and kind side no one ever got to see. It's not a mystery. It's no secret. There are no rumors floating around that aren't perhaps a little bit true. The events leading up to all of this are subtle. They are simple. In-complex in their entirety. His name was Shane. He wasn't new. I was. This was a school. A quite grungy school in a quite washed up city. The humor in all of this?
