The Race of Gloom - Write to Rank 2021 Submission
This book is the submission for the contest of Write to Rank 2021 in which every chapter represents different themes given by the contest's admins with the main genre of action. Every chapter would be a different story thus this is a book of mini stories with made-up prompts. The Write to Rank contest is held by @action ---- Chapter 1 (White Belt): 100 words of running from a crime scene. Framed or guilty? Chapter 2 (Yellow Belt): 500 words of the epic banter between good and evil. Chapter 3 (Orange Belt): 800 words of a trip gone wrong, action-packed and fast. Chapter 4 (Green Belt): 1.2k words of mystery and action mashup. Write in active voice! Chapter 5 (Blue Belt): 1.2k words of scifi and action mashup. Reaction more than telling. Chapter 6 (Purple Belt): 1.2k words of historical fiction and action mashup. Show don't tell! Chapter 7 (Brown Belt): 2k words one-shot of a clear protagonist and antagonist, cliffhanger, and the line "If we do this, there's no turning back." Chapter 8 (Red Belt): 3k words of action fanfiction from a beloved and famous fandom of either movies or games or shows. I personally chose The Last of Us. From the contest Write to Rank, a competition about action writing with challenges every week. This is my entry on the contest. Hope you enjoy it. Released : Part 1 -white belt : write a 100 words flash-fiction action about the realization of danger. The wordcount must be exactly 100 Part 2 -yellow belt : write a 500 words flash-fiction with the prompt "Dead or alive. You're coming with me." The wordcount max is 500 words Part 3 -orange belt : write an 800 words flash-fiction with dialogue between good and bad. The wordcount max is 800 words Part 4 -green belt : write a 1000-1500 words flash-fiction using the genres of action & thriller/horror. Must mostly contain active sentences and fast-paced. It has to be first person perspective. Part 5 -blue belt : write a 1000-1500 words flash-fiction using the theme "Ride or Die" with a third person perspective and the show not tell sentences. Part 6 -purple belt : write a 1000-1500 words action fantasy with a plot twist. Part 7 -brown belt : write a 2000-2500 words action + free theme and with active sentences. End with an insane cliffhanger. Part 8 -red belt : write a 3000-3500 words (continuation of the brown belt) + active sentences and fast-paced. Yellow Belt: 500 word flash fiction about a high speed chase. Orange Belt: 800-word flash fiction that contains a dialogue between good and bad. Green Belt: 1k (min) and 1.2k (max) words - Mystery mashup with action. Blue Belt: 1.2k words - science fiction mashup with action. Purple Belt: 1k - 1.2k words - historical fiction mashup with action. Tinder and Other Tales
In 2018, I put together a simple draw to challenge myself (and anyone else who wanted to try) with flash fiction prompts made up of three suits of cards, shuffled and drawn. The clubs denoted a genre, the diamonds were an object, and the hearts were a setting. Starting with January (A fairy tale, a tattoo machine, and a prison) and drawing once a month thereafter, over the course of a week with no more than 1,000 words, the idea was to write a flash fiction piece using those prompts. Write Better: Tips and tricks
The guide for aspiring fiction writers who want to improve, sharpen, review, and/or learn. Warning! This book encourages editing and contains many tips that often require revision. Practice makes perfect, and it's good to workout your mental muscles. The more you do now, the better your writing will be later (because you'll correct yourself *before* you get it on paper). If you think your writing is perfect or you're lazy or unwilling to try new shoes on your baby, just turn away now. You'll find this guide about as useful as hoarding frozen peas.
Darkened Souls 1: Naughty Killer
When the car comes to a stop, I stride across to her side pulling her out of the car forcefully, hurting her arms successfully while pulling out the cloth from her mouth and unwrapping her arms from my tie. "You fucking manic, I will scream, do you hear me, I will fucking scream" "That's the plan for tonight isn't it sweetheart" Her eyes widen visibly as her thighs clash together beneath my gaze. When I walk into the elevator, all she does is try to get away, she kicks me, attempts to punch me multiple times, I've done this with her, what? A solid seven times? I think so, I've fought with her in an elevator seven times. Caging her between my arms, she watches up at me with hatred and lust engraved as a secret message in her pupils. "What are you going to do?" Bringing my head down, kissing her pulse once more, feeling it beat faster, I whisper to her. "Fuck you senseless" Darkened Souls is a mafia Oneshot using certain aspects from my actual novel that will soon be published, eg. the characters, their motives for hate, their description, their personalities.
