My name is Charlie Oldford, 20 years old, taking classes in Business and Management at the Cochise College. However- all I knew how to do in my life was to play ball. Don't matter what kind of ball, it could be basketball, baseball or softball, maybe at times volleyball.

And sometimes I'd get into fights, just on occasion, I gotta protect my smart mouth some how. Basically I didn't have any time for anyone else other than "ball" that is until I met her and this is our story, how I learned how to see people, but also how I came to love-her.

It was kind of hard to do anything other then be the good preachers daughter. I mean Bisbee, AZ, was one of the smallest towns in the state so I understood people would find us recognizable. Daughter of the preacher and all. I was a good girl, I am a good girl, I didn't know anything other then the good lord, church and that was about it.

My older brother? Was the complete opposite, he hardly comes home and when he does, he's out the door the next minute.

I wanted to be more like him, carefree, to be understanding of the outside world and I begin to see that more when I had met his best friend, Charlie Oldford. My name is Dior Wainwright, 18 and a senior in high school and this is our story.

Ages 14+ (lesbian concepts and some profanity) This is not your everyday love story, okay? It's not a chick flick either. The events and themes within my pages have meaning, depth, truth-and most of all, reality. You are about to be taken on an adventure about a girl who's life is not like everybody else's. I look like a normal teen girl, I mean, I have hair and two eyes and two hands and feet like everybody else, but I couldn't feel more different. I have two moms, yes. Let's just get that out there before you start reading and close my diary like everyone in my life has shut me out of theirs. All I want is a normal life with normal friends who don't judge me because of my home situation. I don't even remember the last time I went on a sleepover or called somebody my age. I don't mean to be a downer, because it does get better. Life gets better. Struggles are only temporary, I know that now. And by my last words reach your eyes, I've come a long way, and have grown to see potential in myself. I'm sharing this with you because I want to make a difference. I know now that I'm not the only one in the world that feels alone. I've been there, done that, and there's more loneliness to come, but for now, I feel more prepared for it. I know how it feels to sit by yourself at lunch every day and how it feels to watch others go to prom with dates and feel like shit because you don't think you'd even have any friends to go with. Please ready my diary. I am much older now, and much more wiser, and I can't wait for you to realize the potential in yourself, too.

14 parts Complete Mature

Kamella is the youngest sibling, and only girl, in a family of superheroes. That means that everything is about the three older brothers and their weekly heroics that save the city. But when it comes to spending time with their kid sister, they couldn't bothered, they have more to do. Even mom is too busy manning their control center to do more than check in every few days. Desperate to reconnect with her family, Kamella decides to use the powers that she has to become a villain named Blinq, just to get attention from her family. But life is already hard. Heading into her senior year in high school, trying to keep her crush away from the stupid boys she keeps dating, fending off suitors of her own, and then meeting other heroes and villains certainly keeps her on her toes. How much of a mess can she make, and will she be able to clean it up? This is being written for the Open Novella Contest 2024, for prompt #87: You come from a family of highly respected heroes. All three of your big brothers are known as powerhouses, but you rarely see them since they're always saving the city. One day you realize that the only way to see all of your brothers is to become a villain. Turns out you're better at it than you thought, and family dinners suddenly become the most amusing time of day.
