It's a clash that goes back generations that triggered the animosity between the Sinclair's and Hartford's. Harper Sinclair's best friend refers to it as a modern day Romeo and Juliet, "except, like, without all the bloody deaths every other day." And, except that there is no Romeo on the Hartford's side that Harper is star-crossed lovers with. Just a boy whom she can't stand, though that hostility doesn't have much to do with the families' spat.

Sebastian Hartford was Harper's competitor. Throughout their school years, the two would compete in near everything; debates, getting the better grades, student council-anything and everything was a competition for the two. The fact that their families didn't get along played only a small part in their dislike of each other. Because unlike the rest of their relatives, both Sebastian and Harper thought of this on-going rivalry between families as an old feud that's been stretched on for far too long over an event that happened when none of them were even alive to witness. But Harper and Sebastian went along with it, not wanting any of their family's hostility to be directed towards them.

However, when both Sinclair's and Hartford's end up in the same city-in the same building-for summer vacation, things are bound to get tense. And Harper and Sebastian are both thrown in for a surprise when they learn that their respective best friends are in a relationship, and begin dragging the unwitting Sinclair and Hartford along to spend time together as a group-all the while keeping it a secret from their families.

They are going to have to break through the bubble of annoyance that surrounds them when they are around each other, but maybe while doing so, Harper and Sebastian might just be the first of their families to quell the decades-long hatred that runs through their veins.

The world has chewed up and spit out Eleanor Robinson again and again. It began with her parents, one taken by a tragedy, one addicted to horrific drugs, and a brother who's too boozed out to know if she's alive or dead. Alone in the world, Ellie isn't exactly sure of how life works, of how anything works, really. The only two people she has that even remotely understand are Sebastian and Scarlett, a pair of siblings that remind her so much of her own family, it's hard to be around them sometimes. When the trio finally move in together after being friends for almost three years, they end up closer than ever. But the move brings along another problem into Ellie's life. Cole Everett is a fighter. From the moment he was cast aside by his family, he's had to fight for scraps at the orphanage dinner table, fight for a spot in the light of his foster family's eyes, and fight for the love of his adoptive parents. It seemed like he never won when it came to personal battles, but in the ring... In the ring, he owned the world. Years and years of the world kicking Cole's ass has shaped him into the fighter Ellie and everyone else sees him as. But the world has also shaped Ellie, and the sweet, heavy-hearted girl paints on a façade that seems only Cole can break through. As the pair attempt to navigate a decent enough relationship to be in the same room as one another without going for the throat, the people around them float between blurred lines of friend or foe. Hearts clash, past enemies arise, and the pair's hearts hang in the balance of it all.

"Do you have any idea how damn frustrating you are?" He trapped me between him and the wall. Stubbornly, I looked squarely at him, "You say this like it's news to you." He pursed his lips, clenched his jaw, and stared at me with darkened eyes before he closed the gap between us. I stared at him squarely as I felt his body heat radiated off me, my lips parted and my breathing picked up a notch. He placed one hand on the wall and brought his lips an inch away from mine as the other hand trailed up my arms, "I am going to make you feel my frustration." I ran my finger along his jaw and dared him with my eyes, "I'm Mila," I grinned, "You can try but we both know you won't succeed." He ran his thumb over my bottom lip, "Don't take my love for you as weakness," he stated and captured my lips with a fiery kiss. "Do you hate me, Travis?" I whisper, so quietly that it's almost completely inaudible, with a voice so full of suppressed emotion that it slightly cracks. "Yes," he whispers back, so breathless and honestly that it makes my heart drop. I open my mouth to speak, unsure of what I was even going to say. But, before I can, he grabs the back of my neck, and smashes our lips together. ------------------------- Travis Hart has never considered himself an angry person, but something about Jonah Davids lit a spark in him. And before you get the wrong idea, that was not a good thing. Jonah Davids was Travis' annoying next door neighbor, aka, his little sister's best friend since childhood, aka, his little sister's biggest crush.
