A year has passed since Karla Hood has been on the run. Damaged by her past, the thirteen-year-old has lost hope in a brighter future and can only strive to keep her freedom. The girl found herself in a continuous routine: jump from city to city and avoid discovery by the Hunters of The Unnatural, or the H.O.T.U., until she arrives in New York City. There, she learns of heroes like her, while both good and bad people learn what she can do. Encountered by both, she is wary to trust any of these strange people. Now, will Karla leave the city like she has with every other town, or will she stay and help stop a great evil from taking control?
