I intake a huge breath, inhaling a deep gulp of dry California air. I just needed a break, from life, from everything. My mother was currently in the hospital, weak and helpless. I was tired of the almost permanent antiseptic scent that wafts your senses as soon as you walk in but follows you around when you leave, almost like a brand. A brand that says 'here here look who's been in the hospital recently' and i'm sick of it. Knowing my mother might never wake. I'm petrified.
