Within the world of Thrae, a great darkness is growing. In the kingdom of Umbradour,  Queen Eravina reigns with tyrannical power, spreading terror with her soldiers and plans to invade and take over other kingdoms. Not only does she desire full control, but she looks for the capture of all Mages, people born with the ability to manipulate energy and objects. She has wiped out most of them within her kingdom, but few survive by hiding their abilities. 
One of these Mages is a girl named Kora Evergrim.
Born on the streets of the city of Sordira and struggling to survive after her parent's death, she looks for ways to survive and protect herself and the few people she is close to while struggling to keep her abilities under control. However, when she is caught up with the infamous rebel organization, the Order of the Ivory Rose,  she finds more secrets than she expects, both about herself and others.

It's bad enough she's trapped with no way home in such a dangerous place, but when she comes across signs of a monster lurking somewhere on this uncharted isle, she comes to find that the worst of her nightmares have only just begun. because the thing that's been stalking her from the shadows as fangs and scales just like the creatures she fears the most, with intentions of keeping her trapped with it on the isle.
