Ash stood up. "Don't look at me like that. This wasn't my decision. Despite what you may think, it won't be a repeat of last time."
Something smelled metallic. Something smelled like blood. Something smelled like my last mission. The mission that had thrown me out of fieldwork for what I had hoped for was forever.

The mission was to extract information from an agent in jungle. Drop in grab the info from the location and quickly and quietly move through the jungle to exfil. Easy in out intel mission. But... She was so quiet I didn't even hear her, next thing I know I have a gun to my temple and a set of eyes fixed on me. She took the information package and was gone in seconds. Imprison them? What do you think they do with all those weapons?" Drew shakes her head, "I won't allow you to take this one; I can't, and I'll kill you if I have to," Joel sighs, "I really can't just abort the mission without a reason," Drew points at the bracelet on her wrist, "break that, they'll be here in ten minutes and you'll have an excuse to aborting the mission," Joel frowns, "a false alarm?" I laid back in my bed and closed my eyes. Then all of a sudden I got the feeling I wasn't alone. But the really strange thing is that even if there was someone in here with me I felt safe. Jordan. I watched her as she slept. In fact I have been watching her since she was born. I have waited half a century to find that one person. I think I have finally settled on her. She was my choice. I know. After being in as many relationships as I have you know things. I felt my fangs tingle. Her blood smelled so sweet. Her heartbeat was steady and strong. I was slowly losing consciousness, but my mind never seemed happier now that I was dying. The white walls with big bright lights did not resemble heaven; in fact, it was quite the opposite. I thought I had died. When I came to, I found myself in this strange place, disoriented and confused. I looked around and found another five pairs of eyes looking at me with the same emotion swirling in their gaze. Now, 15 years later, I train with these girls. Our makers take care of us, feed us, and make sure we are clean, healthy, and fit. Some of us never had that; that's probably why it took so long for us to realize we were being used. The dirty work they made us do, none of us questioned it. How could we when we were taken off the streets? For a chance at normalcy, we settled for anything, even if that meant blurring the lines of right and wrong.
