Chiharu Sarutobi Hatake is the daughter of Kakashi Hatake and Chika Sarutobi. She is the granddaughter of Hiruzen Sarutobi and cousin of Konohamaru Sarutobi.
Chiharu loses her mother at the age of 5. Kakashi becomes distant to the point where he neglects his own daughter. She makes it her nindo to train to get her father's attention.
Once again she loses a loved one at the age of 6. She becomes depressed, but never stops training.
Finally, something happens to her at the age of 7 that compels her to leave the village. She promises her grandfather that she would be back exactly 5 years later.
Upon her return Hiruzen discovers that there is no trace of the old Chiharu in the new Chiharu.
