During the Giant war, many demigods die, including most of the seven. Jason and Percy are the only ones of the seven to survive, the others having sacrificed themselves to save them.
When Jason dies, Nico, being the child of death, is chosen to deliver a funeral invitation to one of Jason's best friends, who is a mortal.
That mortals name just happens to be Clint Barton, also known as Hawkeye.
