Everything had been so..perfect. So jolly...Until the effect of joy had stopped working for you.
With your memories finally getting back to you, and the cheerful smile adorning your face slipping, you had quickly been discovered and labeled as a downer. Those who you considered close friends chased you out of town, mad with the idea that someone would dare ruin their happy lives.
That had been maybe a couple weeks ago...
While it ached very much to think that you may never be able to get back home, it was best not to dwell on that sort of thing as you didn't want to end up like everyone else in the Garden District.
You adjusted as well as anyone that had just losted everything could and busied youself with the new task of survival, distracting yourself with scavenging and small tasks from the wastrels. This became the new normal for you..
Until a new face appeared in the Garden District, that is.

CAUTION: This story may cause flashbacks, small memory triggers, unbearable amounts of sadness, and the risk of becoming a downer. However, popping a joy should clear that right up!

Have you ever met someone who alters the course of your life? For good or for bad, they've come in, given and taken, and then- BOOM! Your life was never the same. There's always a change, an altering of reality. When you meet those people, the reality that you've known your whole life is suddenly gone and a new one has taken its place. When those moments happen, there's no going back. You can try to return to the way things were but nothing, and I mean nothing, can take you back to exactly how it was. That's what happened to us. I think that's why we're still trying so desperately to get back to some sort of normalcy. Four years later and we're still on the ground, crawling, in search of the happiness that was lost that June. Summers will never be the same. Midnight walks through my neighborhood will never be the same. Field parties with bonfires and loud music will never be the same. I still don't know why you left and what lead you to the decision you made. What I do know is that we're here. We're alive and we're pushing forward to the future. A future that you're not a part of. But in some ways, I'm glad you're not a part of it. I just wish it wasn't like this. *** TRIGGER WARNING*** SA, abuse, suicide, substance abuse, and mental illness. "I can" "Good, what about laundry and cleaning?" I nodded. "Fuck Angel, you're like the perfect woman and you still want me to be your friend" He joked and found myself laughing. "Because I am the perfect housewife?" I asked arching an eyebrow. "No, because you are the perfect combination of smart, beautiful, and skillful." I blushed at that and I wanted to look away but one of his hands stopped me and turned my face towards him. "Get used to hearing compliments because you're going to hear them often in the future. Now, about my offer..." He gave me an expectant look. I thought for a while. I still wasn't sure it was a good idea but I liked working at the shop and still wanted to work there for a little while. "Alright, let's do it," I said. "Now? Here? Damn Angel, first the fiancé thing, and now this. For someone inexperienced, you sure move fast" He joked and I laughed. *Warning ⚠️* Strong language, triggering topics such as body shaming, depression...

"It doesn't matter, I respect that but he's the only thing standing between 'us'" he replied, his voice still as calm as ever like nothing was weird... Like 'THIS' was normal. "'We' are not possible" I said mustering all the courage I could, trying not to melt under his gaze. "Does it mean you're considering it?" He asked. I wanted to reply but I couldn't, I couldn't just make out words right now. Was I perhaps considering it? What is wrong with me?! I just stood there, staring at him, his eyes piercing into mine like he was trying to read me. There was something about those dark eyes I couldn't quite comprehend. His presence was doing something to me! Everywhere was suddenly so quiet. Where is everyone?! Few seconds later, his face was inches away from mine, I just hope it wasn't what I was thinking. Every foward motion he took, I equally took a step backwards till I felt my back hit against one of the lockers. I could have pulled out. I could have pushed him away. I could have walked away. I could have hit him or slapped him away from me. But I did nothing... My body felt numb. The only thing I could feel were the weird sensation inside me. We were a breathe apart. I could already feel his body heat... •••••• Book #1 of the Downer Sisters Series. CAN BE READ AS A STAND ALONE BOOK!
