Tonight, John Lazarus, former homicide detective with the New Mowbray PD, will witness the execution of Roy Edgar Chalmers, the third and last of the men responsible for the murder ten years ago of his beloved wife. He will move on for good: to his new teaching job, to his new relationship, to the new life he has built in the wreckage of the old one.

But John Lazarus doesn't know that a series of very strange and violent murders will soon plague his city, and that he will be drawn into the investigation. He doesn't know that investigating these crimes will bring him face-to-face with the events of the awful night his old life ended, and he doesn't know that his dead wife's murderers, despite having been sent by the executioner into the next life, may not be finished with this one.

John Lazarus doesn't believe in ghosts, but what if THEY believe in HIM....
