Willing to catch the attention of his absent father, and no matter the consequences of disobeying him, José Luis and Esteban Santamaría, two brothers of 20 and 18 years old, go down to the coastal village of El Progreso to celebrate the ending of his recent punishment. Under an impetuous storm that threatens to flood the dusty unpaved roads of the village, they witness the terrible and atrocious murder of the priest Ernesto Buenaventura at the hand of mysterious individuals with hooded faces.
This incident, besides of causing a great stir in the village, causes the separation of the two brothers, being this an attempt of Emilio Santamaría to finish once and for all the misdeeds of the boys.
Separated from his younger brother and companion of adventures, Jose Luis sees how his life, so routine and meaningless, begins to crumble to pieces.
Without being able to do anything to stop the continuous deterioration of his reality, he engages in situations that will prove his rough and cold character; in romances that should never have to occurred and severe confrontations with his own family.
