The Replacement

Florence Holmes, a 14 year old girl, is the daughter of Sherlock’s sister, Elizabeth, who cut off all contact with her older brothers, Sherlock and Mycroft, when she was 20. She moved out of the family home and never spoke to them again. 14 years later, Florence is homeless and living on the streets after her mother dies. When Elizabeth was alive, Flo and Lizzie lived in a drug den. Consequentially, Florence smokes and uses nicotine patches, whatever’s cheaper in the local shops at the time.
Two weeks ago, Elizabeth’s will was read. It stated Sherlock was to become Florence’s legal guardian. Florence was staying with Mycroft until the paperwork was sorted out because he couldn't let her go back to living on the streets. Mycroft was at the will reading.
