In a world where bending is everything, if you possess the power to bend one of the four elements you are accepted into the society. But if you don't, you are enslaved. At least that's how it used to be. Now, not even the benders are safe. Every year the Capital of the land known as Dementia forces its eight providences to give up one bender of each element to be brought to an arena and fight to the death until two contestants remain.
When seventeen year old Ariel Clearwater is drafted to compete in these annual games, she has to rely only on her bending and skills to survive in order to keep her promises to her family. Ariel struggles to keep her morals in tact while she is brought to the cruel Capital to be shown off to the world and eventually to kill other kids her age and younger. Ariel will have to test the boundaries of life, trust, friendship, and love if she is able to live.

Having discovered her worst nightmare had come true, Aya is still traveling with her older brother and sister and the Avatar. Aya finally got her wish and discovered her bending ability but it's the one elemental she despises the most; Fire. Aya is beyond terrified and confused about her bending ability and how she got it. She thinks she's the daughter of a waterbender and was born in the Southern Water Tribe but she has yet to discover her story. Aya knows she's different and she knows she has things to discover about herself. Wanting to tell her siblings and Aang about her firebending, she's scared of how they will react and decides to keep it to herself.
