A world of bloodshed is the only one Saitō Tsuru has lived in.
After the Saitō clan's loss of power, her father sends her, and her brother to the Fujiwara clan, with hope of shelter from the brutal murders and ploys from feudal lords hungry for control.
It feels like the home she's never had, until an assassination attempt is made on the daimyō, with evidence of the perpetrator pointing to her brother.
With a death penalty above Kansuke's head, Tsuru works with Ryūnosuke, the charming heir of the Fujiwara, in a desperate attempt to prove her beloved brother's innocence. He points her to the one thing that may very well secure his freedom; a cursed village, rumoured to have old ties to the Fujiwara.
However, as the lines between loyalty and betrayal begin to intersect, dark long-buried tensions are beginning to rise again. Tsuru must unravel herself from the web of lies, and choose who she can trust - before her enemies outwit her and tear apart all she's ever worked for.
