Guilt from her parents death caused many emotional scars for Kaitlyn (Kate) Emerson. However, these scars could have never prepared her for the painful life in her future. At the age of 12 Kate experiences "the incident" and she is never the same again. Several years later, Kate befriends Alyssa Davis in her senior year of college and shortly after falls for Alyssa's older brother, Hunter Davis.
