The kingdom of Krieger is under the rule of a young, inexperienced king. The people are poor, hungry, restless and wanting change. Nothing that the king does seems to make anything better, only worse. He will keep trying though, even if it kills him.

A new, deadly disease is spreading, and although necessary precautions are put in place, the nations don't show much concern. That is, until it's revealed they aren't immune to it either. A special quarantine is organized for the nations who have fallen ill as researchers around the world attempt to find a cure. Those trapped inside the quarantine suffer from pain, loss, and even madness as they are reduced to that of mere humans. This brings light to them as they realize what it is like to be mortal. And they are terrified. Buried memories resurface and unspoken truths are told.
