A town with no history. A girl with no name. An end with no beginning.

My oldest memory of this place was blurry.

It faded in and out of my dreams and subconscious. The details edges had been rubbed smooth long ago, but the feeling of complete and absolute terror had remained as distinguishable as the day it happened.

fifteen or so years back...

That fear has always kept me grounded to the forest that isolated me from the rest of the world. It kept me safe from whatever I had to run away from. Tricking me into thinking what was best for my survival, was to stay hidden.

But when dangers from the outside seep into the safe haven I had created, all sense of security shatters.

Suddenly the safety net is gone, and other people exist again...

Some that had definitely thought I was dead.

(as of 9/30/24 - Hello (: this is a disclaimer! I have been writing this book for like 6 years and it is not perfect at all. I am currently rewriting all the chapters and posting new ones every month so I can finish it. If you choose to read this know that this is not the final result. I hope you enjoy it and if not, feel free to tell me why. I'm trying to learn!

Thank you so much!)

[Complete. Wattys 2023 Winner] The Redding takes you if it knows your name. That's the rule that's kept Meg alive --- or awake, rather --- since the night the world went to hell. Nobody knows where the red stuff came from, but it acts like water, it's in the water, and it falls as rain every night. The people it captures drop like puppets with their strings cut. They're asleep, not dead, and you can wake them if you say their name again. But then they just try to kill you. Meg and the other survivors she's befriended think they've found a stable equilibrium, six weeks after the catastrophe began. Nicknames become real names, and Meg knows she's getting better at identifying safe houses. Her crush discovers that Morse code, like writing, is a safe way to say a Sleeper's name. It's the night after learning it that Meg wakes up just as the nightly rain is starting. Raindrops, as it turns out, can make dots and dashes, too. The Redding can talk. And it's telling her to run. ❖❖❖ Complete. Wattys 2023 Winner. 33 parts Complete Mature
Ambys 2024 Top Picks for Mystery/Thriller Since homecoming night senior year, Aisling Turner has lived in a hell of her mother's creation. For five years, she's been trapped in Florida, wondering why she can't remember anything about the night her best friend disappeared. Cut off from the only family who ever loved her and all she's ever known. It took five years, but she finally escaped and returned to the small town of Davies, Oklahoma. Everything and nothing is the same. But she's determined to make peace with her guilt. To say goodbye to Grams. To start over in the only place she's ever felt at home. If the town will let her, that is. Years later, most people still think she murdered her friend in the woods that night. Even Aisling isn't so sure she's completely innocent. Apparently, one of those "concerned citizens" believes Aisling knows more than she claims. They set off a chain reaction that puts Aisling on a path with Brett, her old high school crush, and his best friend, Deputy Leo, to discover what actually happened that night. Aisling isn't completely sure she wants to know. But like the drive to come home, the desire to know the truth is too strong. Even if it destroys her. Content Warning: This story does contain some difficult topics, namely child abuse (mentioned - never shown), attempted assault, being drugged, and, of course, murder. There is also some sexual content (aka one sex scene). The chapters with the sex scene and attempted assault are marked at the top of the chapter.
