Daenerys este o studentă în al doilea an de facultate, dornică să absolve, însă problemele familiale sunt la ordinea zilei. Cheltuieli peste cheltuieli, iar hrana este un lux pe care abia de şi-l permit.
Ea decide să se angajeze la un restaurant destul de cunoscut. Reuşeşte să îşi ajute familia şi să îşi plătească studiile, iar in ciuda șefului ei mult prea dur, izbutește să privească partea bună a lucrurilor; fiecare zâmbet oferit, fiecare moment semnificativ din viețile diferitor oameni, fiecare chip întâlnit. Sociabilă, iubește să schimbe câte o vorbă, două cu clienții, în special cu domnul Blackwell, un fost veterinar, un bărbat împlinit din toate punctele de vedere. Fiecare sfat primit îi prinde bine fetei.
Dar, din păcate, este inevitabil ca orice lucru bun să nu aibă un final. Daenerys este concediată, vechile probleme revenind în viața ei.
Însă ce se întâmplă atunci când Blackwell, bătrânul ei prieten, îi întinde o mână de ajutor? Când lucrurile iau o întorsătură neașteptată, tânara fiind nevoită să se confrunte cu alte obstacole apărute în drumul vieții sale?
