What if verbal abuse hurt; left scars, bruises, and cuts just like physical abuse? Well then i'd be all scarred up with words like, Faggot, Freak, Stupid, Monster, etc. It wasn't always this way, we used to just be able to say things without fear of it harming people; free speech. But it all changed when a team of scientist created a way to physically harm someone the same way you verbally harm someone; by a nanobyte released into the water supply all around the world. At first people watched what they said, but then after a while, people got used to seeing the words scarred across our skin. My story starts my freshman year of highschool about a week before Homecoming, the day I came out of the closet.

Journey with me back in time as I rewrite the first Journal I kept from when I was in high school, and see that maybe even with how horrible life is most of the times, there are little things spread throughout that make life worth living. My high school experience was full of drama, tears, laughter, and most of all constant search of love, and approval of the people around me. I can't always get what I want in this world. “Hey faggot!” I winced at the sound of the one and only star quarter back. He wasn't wrong, I was gay, but that word was just so offensive. I hated that I came out, hated the fact more than you could ever guess. It had cost me all but three of my friends, most of my freedom and every second that had been left of my childhood.
