it's been two years since melanie moved away to san francisco. things have been up and down for the couple during the first couple of months that eventually, it didn't sit well with spencer nor melanie. it took one big fight for them to realize that having a long distance relationship wasn't the best for them.
it wasn't until melanie got a call from penelope saying that her brother, and the team, had gotten into a major car accident caused by peter lewis (mr. scratch) and there wasn't any word on how they were doing. having her mind wrapped about her brother's that she didn't think about having to see spencer again.
the feelings they have for one another is still there but with both being consumed by their jobs, they're not sure where they stand.
