There was no escaping the storm of lunacy that would fall upon Gotham, but little did I know that I'd be caught in its eye. Too much had changed; too much had been lost.

Maniac laughter had befallen on my life, constantly ringing in my head. It felt like a curse. It was a curse - one that he had cast on me the moment we met. 

But despite everything - despite all that had changed and all that had been lost - it was still to him that I felt drawn. He was the one constant in my life, even when he wasn't.
