When Violet was 12, she made a mistake. She wandered a bit too far into the ocean depths - far enough for a hungry shark to nibble on her leg. Now, ugly scars roam it up and down in all shapes. Because of this incident, she is hated for her ugliness. And in the life of Violet, if you're not pretty, you're worthless. At least at Grood's High School, that is.

So when she comes to finds a weapon by her window attached with a note, she starts to second guess if someone might have enough hatred towards her to harm her, much less murder her.

When she finds out who the note is truly from, her heart is completely shattered, yet somewhat relieved. Only one person has the power to save her from a brutal death. . .
