He was her mentor buddy until Southside high got shut down and everyone moved to Riverdale High where she met Veronica and Archie and her Cousin Cheryl. Veronica and Betty became close as friends but she still was crushing on Jughead until he approached Betty in her room and kissed her. They decided to met each other's families after two months of dating. Her dad didn't support it so he kept on abusing Betty while Alice sat there watching it happen. The few months after Betty is diagnosed with cancer in her lungs. She never told Jughead and he saw her in hospital the next day and cried just by seeing her in pain.
