When Alexander looses eliza due to complications in her lungs, He and their two children, Phillip and Angelica,  are forced to move out of their house by Eliza's father. They walked into an open alleyway with a few trash cans and Alexander built a small shelter for them to live in. But what  happens when Thomas Jefferson, one of Alexander's old college roommates and his daughter, Rae, find them, cold and disheveled?
