This two part poem is about the struggles of growing up in a traumatic and dysfunctional family household from being a newborn to a three year old child, and discovering the traumatic world too early in life. This poem does contain really sensitive subjects such as alcoholism and abusive relationships so please be careful when reading, especially if it is a trigger for you. I want this poem to be something therapeutic and safe to read, but sometimes having these situations being put bluntly in your face may not help your personal situation, so please be cautious and I encourage you not to read this if this is something very raw for you at the moment. (This is not a true story or a personal account of my own, which I am so very grateful for, but to put these types of story journeys out there, I hope to raise awareness and give those help if needed about disadvantaged families and their situations.)

Bare with me for this is just a school project made by myself back in 2018 and as far as I can remember I didn't have enough time to refurnish my story because of the deadline. Also this story is a short reference of the books that I've read and movies that I've watched that really sparks my interests in writing stories. The purpose of this poetry book is one of defiance. Not to others, or anything in particular. It is against the war we wage internally, against ourselves every day. There is no bigger challenge in life than facing your thoughts, your true emotions, your feelings when you lie alone at night by yourself, cornered. We tend to postpone them, shelf them, as we grow accustomed to our daily activities, never giving ourselves a chance to evaluate ourselves. Who are we? what do we lack? what do we need? In this book, I took it upon myself to air out all of my grievances, my intimate thoughts, my happiness, my disappointments, my sadness all out in the open, for all to see. I wanted to face it all. To stare my mortality dead in the eyes, and let the lingering stare sit, I wanted to simmer the feeling of weakness, of every single type of emotion, completely digest it, and let it manifest genuinely, reading it, again and again, perfecting it, again and again, until the feeling of pain subsides.
