Based on an actual life event, this story will pull you in with it's laughter and heartbreak. I've changed the ending to be so much happier than it was in reality. Delilah was merely a student the first time that she met Alexander. But the second time, she was more. She had matured and grown more confident in who she was. The emails that passed back and forth between the two was something to be remembered. Here's their story..

Ten years Delilah had lived within the walls of The Protectorate, a school of sorts for young female's such as her. 'Gifted' they had been called. But what was a gift for some, was torture for Delilah, feeling trapped within this island prison, not even knowing what the 'gift' was! None of them knew! Not yet anyhow! It was a great change in your life, and when it happened, you would know. Until then, there were rules to follow, classes to attend. Leaving the massive estate unattended and for no good reason, was forbidden. Being out after dark, was forbidden. Males, were forbidden. Even talking to one without having been told to do so, was forbidden. But why? Soon enough the 'secrets' start seeping through the woodwork as a danger arrives to the island and Delilah's world takes on a few new layers of madness. With nothing but her journal, in which she can transfer the chaos from her thoughts to the paper, Delilah tries to make sense of it all.
