"These things never start the way you expect them to. You want to be able to see them happening. See the oncoming train, or bus bearing down on you to wipe you from the face of the earth. See the evil spirits gaining on you. Because when you can see it coming, you can plan an escape. When you can see the path wrought with danger, you can be objective and also see the way out to safety. You never expect to be blindsided. You never expect to step off the curb when the light says it's your turn to cross the road, only to be run down. My point is that I should have seen this coming. In fact I did. "

[MHA x F!Reader] [6k - 20k worded chapters] "Don't move!" You shouted as loud as your voice could reach, your hand coming up and cupping your neck as you fought back a violent cough, blood rising in your damaged cords. Your opponent did as commanded, but the effect only lasted for a second at most, making you go on the defense once more as you mustered up enough strength in your voice again. You had only a few more simple commands left in you, if you dared try anything other than a simple 'don't move' or 'move away', you'd leave your throat beyond repair. However, you didn't want to let up anymore than you already have, dodging another blow from the beast that was attacking you. You had run out of throat medicine a long time ago, and your weapon was beyond repair, you had almost no hope. Leaning backwards, you narrowly dodged a blow, a large gash forming on your cheek that bled wildly, you holding in a hiss. Skidding to a stop, the villain in front of you wasted no time throwing themselves back at you, your brows furrowed as you spat out the remaining blood in your mouth. The villains grin widened as they raised their weapon hire, preparing a fatal blow for you. Opening up your mouth, you prepared yourself for the inevitable, this was it, your final, fatal strike. At the cost of your vocal cords, you screamed as loud as you could, as loud as you could muster. "Plummet!" The villain was taken aback as they were sent back down into the ground, a scream rupturing from them as they were dug into the ground. And you? On your knees, coughing up gallons and gallons of blood, your vision, hazy.

"Who's out there?" One of the men yelled. Of course only silence met them. I remained quiet and waited for the group to start moving again. "Maybe it was just an animal." Someone whispered. The person, who I assumed was the captain of the small squad, signaled for them to walk again. They clearly showed fear as they kept going; brandishing their weapons to guard themselves with. "Two are holding lanterns. I'll tell you when you're too close to them." I heard my friend whisper in my ear. I followed the men as I picked up another branch and waited for the right time to break it. They continued to walk through the forest, turning their heads in every direction as if an animal might lunge at them and rip their throats out. I guess in a way I was going to do that. "Go back a few feet." My friend whispered. I carefully distanced myself from the group and waited. "Where is she?" I quickly snapped the stick as soon as he finished asking the question. They stopped and two soldiers raised their lanterns to shine its light in the darkness. I quickly hid behind a tree before both of them turned where I was. A low frustrated growl came from one of the men, "The girl's playing with us. She's out here following our every move." How paranoia can cloud the mind. At nine years old, Silver decided to leave her village for the forest. Since then, she's been hunted; everyday is a fight for her life, every breath she takes could be her last, but she's determined to stay alive. Her life isn't the kind anyone would want to live but she's managed to survive this long so, what's a few more years?

"Are you coming with me or not?" "To where? Where are we going to go, Magnus? We're in the middle of the goddamn zombie apocalypse. Everyone we know is dead. Dead or Turned." Magnus fixed his gun over his shoulder and smiled broadly. "We can go wherever we like, Alexander. There's no rules anymore. We're all just skin and bones." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The year is 2025. Five years ago, a deadly disease was released worldwide that reanimates the dead and turns them into flesh eating corpses. Once bitten, you turn into one them. First comes the fever. Then comes death. Then the reanimation. The news will tell you to stay inside. Don't listen. They will tell you to go to an evacuation center. Don't go. They will tell to stay in large groups to ensure safety. That's not always the case. No place is safe, only safer. Either you survive or you die. Or else you're left for dead. Your choice. All characters besides my own © of Cassandra Clare. They deserved so much better.
