Three groups:
The Exterminators: Also called the X-men.
Stats: Largest ones among us. They stood at the top social pyramid. Tasked with destroying the dead ones who were now freely roaming the earth. Humanity's last hope.
The Sweepers:
Stats: Held less amo than the x-men and thus had less power. Endured bullying thorough out their lifetime, often called the" second best". Tasked with cleaning up the destruction caused by the Exterminators and taking care of wandering dead ones.
Cleaners: Lowest of the social class
Stats: Not esteemed enough to carry the "The" title. Tasked with the reconstruction of buildings, homes, hospitals, stores ,roads. Often took up janitorial duties. Carried no amo.
The others: The rest of the human civilization which hid in behind the walls for their own survival.

If there were any people left, they would spread rumors about the machines, a group of massive snake-like exterminators that patrol the skies in search of survivors of the apocalypse. They might have said that they were sent from the government in order to get rid of the ones who speak the truth. They might have said the machines were sent from aliens looking to wipe out humanity. But it's not like Mason would know what they would have said, after all, he is just as clueless as they would be, the difference between him and them is the other people can't talk. Once found out, the mutants turn to their real form. They become beasts of legend. Serpants that dwell deep in the sea. Lizards that grow in size and take flight to the skies. Hounds that double or triple in size and spew the elements. And many more shapes, colors, and sizes. Once transformed the heart is shown involuntarily, simply dangling around the neck like a pendant.
