Addie Mercer had always been the 'good girl'. Good grades, good attitude, kind-hearted and the perfect daughter. Her and her brother, Cleo, lived simple lives. Their parents weren’t around often, so they would always stick together and do what's best for each other. Addie’s 2 best friends, Blythe and Cooper, have always hated each other for a reason that they never told anyone. And Addie had always lived through the lives of the characters in the books that she read, but one day she had had enough. She was tired of being ‘perfect’. So, she did the one thing that surprised everyone including her and has changed her life forever, she kissed the school player, Carter Collins.

But now her father has gone to jail, her mother is more distant, her best friends hate each other more than ever, and everyone seems to be hiding a secret.

So, how can Addie fall in love, when everything seems to be falling apart?
