The Fourth Great Shinobi War is just about to come to an end with the sealing of Kaguya Otsutsuki, and watching his students defeat their final enemy, he is starting to understand that it's time, now, for the next generation to take over and lead the shinobi world into a peaceful future.
With the re-emergence of a ghost of his past and his promotion to the position of Hokage, though, the universe seems to be telling Kakashi quite forcibly that his time is not quite over yet.
