We do not have family time in my house
cause time is money and my family does not like to waste.
Whenever I call my dad he starts conducting the call as if it was a meeting:
- What is in the scope for this weekend daughter? - daughter is my pet name.
- Shopping, high heels for work.
- Aren't you girls supposed to dress professional at work?
- That's the dress code dad: Dress in a way that would make you dad be ashamed of you: no more daddy girl, power to sugar momas!
- You and your feminist thoughts!
- Actually not wearing high heels to work IS my feminist statement!
- O.K. if you say so.
My dad is a good listener - if only he had time to listen - he avoids confrontation with a passive aggressive silence. My dad has this power of making you confess crimes you've never committed...even over the phone...he always cuts the calls short with:
- So, have we covered all the main "topics"?
So last time I told him:
- Dad there's this guy I am interested in, but I don't know if it's just physical or something more , I don't want to get too excited about it...
- Hello? ....Dad? ....Can you hear me?
- Yes, I hear you...aah: I'll let you handle that.
My dad always knows WHEN to delegate.
My mom is the complete opposite, she is always calling me, I feel like Client Services, sometimes I just wish I could turn my mom off and on again! Last time she called me on my birthday:
- I really don't understand you, how you think, why aren't you normal? Why aren't you more like me? Normal! You're old, you're almost older that me now!
You know, in life things not always turn out like you want them to, for instance : you turn out to be like... that! Well honey: Happy Birthday!
I never ask my mom for her opinion, cause she just...give it to me. For instance, last time we were discussing about pregnancy:
To be continued...
