Tính chống ăn mòn của Inox 316:
 
Inox 316 đã thể hiện được khả năng chống ăn mòn tuyệt vời của mình khi được tiếp xúc với nhiều loại hóa chất khác nhau.Điều nổi bật của Inox 316 là khả năng chống rỗ bề mặt và khả năng chống ăn mòn các kẽ hở trong môi trường Chloride ở nhiệt độ thường. Khi ở trong môi trường Chloride có nhiệt độ cao hơn, khoảng 50 độ C, thì sẽ xuất hiện các hiện tượng rỗ bề mặt, ăn mòn ở các kẽ hở. Ở trong những môi trường như vậy thì Duplex là một lựa chọn tuyệt vời, cụ thể là loại Inox 2205 (UNS S31803) hoặc những loại inox có hàm lượng Molypden cao hơn 6% như UNS S31254.
 
Cả 3 mác inox 316, 316L và 316H đều có khả năng chống ăn mòn giống nhau. Người ta sẽưu tiên dùng Inox 316L khi gặp những mối hàn quan trọng, và ưu tiên sử dụng inox 316H khi cần dùng ở những nơi có nhiệt độ cao.
