Ever since Riley could remember, her life had been different. Like for example, mermaids lived in the rivers and waterways by her, most of her friends were either half-fairies or half-leprechaun. But her? She was abnormal compared to them. She was human, which was a rare occurrence. And when her mom passed away, no one had even heard of the disease that had killed her. When she was 13, her dad ran away, the stress of something driving him insane and no one, no even her friends that had special telepathy, could find him. And then, when she thinks it can't get much worse, the king wants to personally see her and her brothers. Why? Not even she knows. All she ever wanted was for her and her brothers to live a normal childhood, have some friends and get a good education. But now it seems that that's not what the universe wants them to do.
