The end isn't near, it's here. The kinds were created by a chemical explosion during WWIII, but it wiped out the rest of the human race. Only certain people were able to survive and that's how the kinds came to be. Leo thought the end of the world would be when the Blazers and Aguamites went to war, but he and Cassie were able to stop them with the Steam Project. They were wrong. The world is facing extinction once again, but this time no one will survive. Only those chosen by Sofia Ewer. With Cassie and Phoebe dead, Leo and Jack must do everything in their power to stop Sofia. To do that they must enlist the help from their new friends, Abigail Eisold and Elysia Kendrick, some new, old faces, and two surprising faces. Will it be enough? Or is the world doomed for good this time?
