Cameron Zader is eighteen-years-old and is in her senior year of high school. She's the quietest one in her school and has the looks of a nerd in the middle class. But behind her looks, she is shy, but can be really fun when you're close to her. Cameron is actually a dancer with some nice moves. She has a little brother named Rafe and they live with their uncle, since their parents were murdered by a greaser that hasn't been caught by the police. She's still taking her parent's death very hard, which throws her life off balance. She's living with a fear towards greasers and avoids them at all costs, like a phobia.
One day, she ran off into the greaser part of town and gets heavily trash talked by a bunch of Socs that followed her, and even took a blow to the eye. Darry Curtis interferes with the fight and takes her to the Curtis House. Their liking towards each other blooms even more, but how will Cameron's life change? Will she overcome her feelings fear and realize what some greasers are really like? Maybe, Cameron herself can change too?

Darrel is stressed with work and taking care of his two brothers and was getting angry a lot recently. Sodapop felt disconnected and almost sick all of the time and was very tired of being a middleman to his brothers all the time. Ponyboy was struggling with his sexual orientation and was scared what others would say when he realised he had fallen in love with, not even a girl, but Johnny Cade.
