Stray Humans
It's been almost a hundred years since Earth's civilizations fell, leaving only ruins and memories. Long before the collapse, they began taking humans, but now, everyone knows who they are and they fear them. The few who manage to return from their captivity tell stories of how these creatures treat humans like animals or children, tending to them like pets or slaves. Most survivors live in hidden cities, avoiding the ancient ruined cities at all costs. But not Jace and his crew. As a group of Stray Humans, they've made the decaying cities their home, roaming the forgotten streets, never staying in one place for long, and bringing all their skills to the table. They are a family, working together to make sure those things, Aliens, never take another human as long as they are near. When the aliens of A.C.R. (Animal Care and Rescue) find a new group of humans wandering the ruins of a large city, they think it will be an easy capture. But they soon learn that these particular humans have more willpower than most. They dodge every trap, disappear around every bend, and even manage to take some of the already captured humans with them. The aliens pity these "little creatures"-they just don't want to leave their home, but Earth is falling apart at the seams, and they are determined to take the stubborn little humans to the safety of one of the mother planets. No matter the cost. There's only one of him and two of us, he can't take us both out. Just as we approach the lake, we split, confusing the man. He had stopped and was watching us both run away, probably evaluating which one of us he had a better chance with. I turn back to look where I'm going when I hear a loud bang. I scream. Pain flares up in my lower leg as though something bit me. The bullet ripped through my leg but stopped as I clearly have no exit wound. Expecting the man to have almost caught up with me, I look up only to see his back as he runs after Michael. *** 18 year old Blaze is kidnapped and taken from her home town along with her best friend Michael.
