The Zombie Apocalypse was probably the best thing to ever happen to Sergeant Major Nadia Emerson. She can finally be away from the Army Command who are always expecting more of her then she can give; her "family" is gone and can't do anything to her; and she can hunt to her hearts content. The only thing really missing is the Dixon Brothers. Merle, who served with her, and Daryl, who grew on her. She set up shop not far from the Greene farm and left notes for the two to find her. Now here's to hoping her strange relationship with the brothers will still work out.

Following closely the third season of the series, this story reveals the life of a fifteen year old survivor, Quinn, and her unusually close, but platonic, relationship with Merle Dixon as they survive the apocalypse together. Having lost her family in the first few weeks of the outbreak, Quinn is no stranger to the horrors this new world brings. The only silver lining was having Merle Dixon find her on the precipice of death and nurse her back to health. Because of that, Quinn has irrevocably bonded with the man on a deep level. Perhaps she is too deeply entwined in his life, too blind to what he has done, and what he is capable of. Perhaps she doesn't know the true Merle Dixon. Nevertheless, she will follow the older man to hell and back, and that truth will be tested in the time to come. Flashbacks are in italic. The Walking Dead does not belong to me, and all characters and dialogue belong to them. Chapters follow (for the most part) the plot from the episode, and some dialogue is taken directly from the show. Once again, all credit belongs to AMC's The Walking Dead, all that belongs to me are my original ideas and my character.
