Mercy is married and dedicated to Commander Jack Morrison. While the Omnic crisis breaks out Jack gets wounded and falls into a coma and doesn't wake up for weeks. Meanwhile, Mercy and Genji get called to the front lines for talon attacks. Overwatch starts to get blamed for not protecting the people well enough, Headquarters gets destroyed with Jack inside. Mercy turns to genji as the only hope she has, but then meets a familiar face on the field. Does an old love rekindle or does a new one start?

A story of my favourite overwatch ship ever, This story will be containing mature themes so here's your warning and it will mostly follow the story of Mercy and Genji as per the cannon lore but obviously with my own additions sprinkled in. Enjoy!!

Genji has worked for Blackwatch ever since he was murdered by his own brother, being one of their highest ranking officers. However, after Genji makes a drastic mistake in an important mission, Commander Reyes decides it's best to demote him - all the way back to Novice. While struggling to deal with his anger, feeling betrayed and useless, Genji gets assigned a new mission to show he can, in fact, follow Reyes' orders: he is to welcome a Rookie to Blackwatch and watch over him for his first days. Regardless of Genji's rudeness, the Rookie is determined to be kind to the cyborg. He even seems to worry for Genji's wellbeing; it is something Genji isn't used to, and his feelings about it contradict everything he thought he knew about himself.
