Human beings have evolved to use more than 10% of their brain, and as an effect, possess supernatural powers. Luna and Lara Valkyrie grew up in a foster home in the town of Westhaven, California. Both 18 and having been born on the same day, they were raised as twins, Luna adopting Lara's surname because of her own being unknown.
