There was once an angel... She didn't perch on the clouds, she didn't fly sky high; Instead she meandered about the streets, and smiled at passers-by. Her heart sang for them - a blissful melody. She prayed for them - their only remedy. When they fell, she caught them in her loving embrace, And her compassion was their saving grace. But with every feather she plucked and gave away to those flightless, Her demons were left to roam, and pull her into darkness. Smiling for them, the seeds of happiness she would sow, In their souls, while she fought her demons on her own. They all perched on the clouds, they all flew sky high; While on her back she had bare bones, hollow with her cries. Her soul was devoured, the darkness left to spread, Her heart was enamoured, with the idea of no more dread. She looked up to the sky, And smiled for those passers-by. But soon she closed her eyes, her face a mask of lies While her demons ripped apart, The heart She neglected., The soul She gave away, The mind She hated, And the life she lost that day. There was once an angel...
