Dreams.
They are both wonderful and terrible. Wonderful because they can bring joy; hope. Terrible because they can tear you from the real world.
Nightmares. Defeat; helplessness. You can do nothing but watch. Waking up in the middle of the night, gasping for breath, and crying. Desperate to stay awake. To save yourself from that pain.
Meet Lyla. She's an ordinary girl who goes to a high school like everybody else her age. She blends in the crowds and nobody pays much attention to her. One fateful night, she encounters the last person she'd expect to be walking on Earth.
Her dead grandfather. He informs her that she is one of a race that can control and take away other people's dreams and nightmares. He tells her of a prophecy. A prophecy that will change everything, with no which way of fixing itself.
