Ruby is the daughter of a pirate who was killed by a half dwarf named Kodyr trying to climb up in the ranks. 

When a darkness gains more and more power and threatens both of them, the pirate and the Pariah will have to set aside their differences and work together to stop the uprising evil.

But she has to do it right this time and that means telling her people who she really is if she wants them to follow her into a war against her mother. A woman who refuses to let Macha be and plans to wipe her entire existence from fae history.
