Everyone has their metaphorical drug. The thing they need everyday; they are addicted to it.

For a teenage boy, that thing was his best friend. His best friend who was taken away, leaving the boy's world crumbling into fractals of brokenness and despair, causing him to spend everyday in a fusillade of depression and longing.

It wasn't long before he discovered real drugs, but no amount of withdrawal from them compared to the loss of his friend, and nothing - no, nothing - could fill the empty pit that aches within him.
