The Mayor of Casterbridge (1886), subtitled "The Life and Death of a Man of Character", is a novel by British author Thomas Hardy. It is set in the fictional town of Casterbridge (based on the town of Dorchester in Dorset). The book is one of Hardy's Wessex novels, all set in a fictional rural England.

Hardy began writing the book in 1884 and wrote the last page on 17 April 1885. Within the book, he writes that the events took place "before the nineteenth century had reached one-third of its span".
Literary critic Dale Kramer sees it as being set somewhat later-in the late 1840s, corresponding to Hardy's youth in Dorchester.

Anna and Ryne must battle against evil forces - and their own hearts - in this high-stakes conclusion to the Thread of Gold series. Season 4 of Thread of Gold *** Annalise Cidarius has a tough decision to make: seize the throne or take a chance at love. Reeling from a devastating battle that saw the defeat of the evil goddess Lucia, Anna returns to Stillwater Castle, where an empty throne awaits her; a throne that both she and her enemy-turned-lover Ryne Delafort intend to sit on. But shortly after Anna returns, it becomes clear that chaos and dissent still rein. Reports surface that Eris Delafort has seized control of the neighbouring kingdom and is massacring towns. Even more disturbingly, there are whispers that Lucia has returned, and the goddess might just be more powerful than ever before... If Anna is to save her kingdom, she must muster her courage and defeat the forces of evil once and for all. For if she fails, she'll lose everything - including her own head.
